" the Bigger Picture" is the debut LP from Inigo Kennedy,
the man who brought us " the Gauntlet" (Techno single of the month
in Mixmag, Wax and Jockey Slut) last December. It is also the
first artist album release from Missile and they have chosen
well. Kennedy has managed to put together an album that should
gain respect from both techno purists and also those who are
easily bored by the purist approach. "Rude Interruption" is hard,
spiky and frenetic, making it the most obvious dancefloor bomb.
Tracks like "Smooth Running" and the excellent "Watching, Waiting" (which
Kennedy decided to include on the album after listening to it
in an airport departure lounge) wouldn"t sound out of place on
Two Lone Swordsmen"s last album. "Escape (To the Sea)" is a long,
blissful, melodic (but still techno) epic which sounds like the
soundtrack to a scuba-diving trip with Luke Slater and the Orb.
All in all things are looking good for Inigo Kennedy and Missile. |
